ERCP with stent placement

An Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopanchreatography with stent placement is a procedure in which an endoscope is introduced by the mouth until the second section of the small intestine is reached for the purpose of placing a stent to drain the bile, normally produced in the liver and emptied into the small intestine, due to a tumor that results in obstruction of the bile duct. The stent is inserted via endoscopy to reestablish the normal draining of bile into the small intestine.
